Fear of Change, by Dr. Ogi Ressel
Friday, May 29th 2009Warm hellos to everyone,
I thought I'd touch on an issue which seems to be the main reason
why doctors do not grow:
Fear of Change. It can be crippling.
All of us have a comfort zone - a level of complacency that we reach
where the pain of change is enormous compared to the pain of remaining
where we are. In other words, we are stuck in a place that is comfortable
enough to offset the effort and inconvenience it takes to change.
So we stagnate.
We decide that the effort to change and the pain of doing so, is gargantuan
as compared to the discomfort, frustration, sleepless nights of worry, of not
achieving the practice you have always dreamed of having - it's just too much
work! Atta Boy! You should congratulate yourself - you have just turned your
groove into a rut!
You have just exchanged your aspirations, dreams, and desires, for the ordinary.
....and your plan is to coast it out, eeking out a meager existence just to
get by, for you and your family.
"It ain't so bad" you tell yourself to quiet that little inner voice which is telling
you that you are being a shmuck - that you are not being true to yourself.
That there is a reason you became a Chiropractor - to help as many people
as you could. You even swore an Oath upon graduation. So you build this
elaborate wall of excuse and defence in order to rationalize and be Ok with
where you are. To quiet that inner voice.
To make it go away.
Listen up....I totally agree with you - change is uncomfortable. But....it's also inevitable.
Nothing ever stands still. There is no "coasting" through Life - you probably
already know that.
There is no standing still. No.
Either you are growing, or you are dying. There is no inbetween. No gray areas.
No middle ground. No safe haven.
So... realize this; there are only two things you can absolutely count on in Life;
1. Change - whether you are ready or not.
2. Yourself
Yes....you can count on yourself! Kind of an empowering thought, isn't it?
You can coun on yourself and your inner resouces - your strength, your courage,
your dreams, your effort, to accomplish anything you put your mind to.
Hey....what a thought!
You are the source of your own future.
Think of this for a moment - you graduated as a Chiropractor - not an easy thing to do.
You started practice - also not an easy thing to do - it was lots of hard work.
....and then you started using tools which your patients and community did
not resonate with. And practice became hard, difficult, a grind, unfulfilling. etc.
So here is the answer: change the tools you are using.
Change the manner in which you are communicating what you do with your
patients and your community - I'll teach you how.
Here we go again.....Fear of Change.
Hang on for a moment...this fear is false. It is a fake. It is an illusion structured
by you and you only.....and this is where the Practice Evolution Program fits in.
I will give you tools which totally resonate with your patients and community in
an environmen t which is safe, clinically sound, honest, and will give you the
vision you need to have the practice you have always wanted to have - to be
the doctor you have always wanted to be.
...and there is no selling involved. None. No glibby phrases to use, no closing
sales pitches to memorize and no scare tactics. Honest.
In comparison to what is being peddled out there, that concept is simply amazing.
...And you will be taught by a fellow who walked the talk . A fellow who had the
top children's and family practice in North America. A fellow who understands
where you are and the fear you may be facing.
Me!
So....here's what I suggest;
Face your fear and decide to change. Get really pissed off with where you are.
Reaffirm that you were meant to help more people than you are helping at present.
Draw a line in the sand and step over it. What an empowering thought!
Visit my website (www.practiceevolution.com) and do the Practice Health Mini Check-up.
It comes right to my computer.
I'll study your answers and call you with my advice and my suggestions.
But here is the catch....do it now. Don't wait 'till that dreaded Procrastination Disease hits.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Warmest wishes,
Dr. Ogi Ressel
